Rising Sea Levels

surging-seasSpecial thanks to Dan Woog’s 06880 blog for reminding us today about ClimateCentral.com‘s Surging Seas website: http://sealevel.climatecentral.org/ssrf/connecticut

Both sites are amazing environmental resources and include detailed forecasting of potential sea level rise and how it might affect coastal flood zones. If these forecasts are correct, Connecticut’s shoreline may be in for some serious remapping. Tools are available for choosing potential sea level rises (forecasting varies wildly), town by town (including 06880!) and watching as maps reflect the submerging of some of our favorite waterfront locations.

According to the maps, it looks like it will take a sea level rise of about 8 feet before LandTech’s newly renovated World Headquarters on Riverside Avenue in Westport will be conducting business underwater.
