Frog Week!
Have you been hearing loud cricket or chirping sounds coming from a wetland in your area? No wonder – it’s FROG WEEK! The sound you’re hearing may be calls from wood frogs or spring peepers: they arrive early in spring. You’re hearing the males calling to the females, and small as they are, they create quite a racket, and when numbers of them gather it’s a true chorus – the sounds of a most welcome spring here in Connecticut. It’s LANDTECH scientist Tom Ryder’s job to track down and observe the vernal pools these little guys call home, and he’s somewhere out there right now!
